India is the birth place of many religions. One such religion is Jainism founded by mahavira. Mahavira was born in a village, Kundagrama in Muzzaffarpur district in 599 BC. He started for the search of truth at the age 30 after renouncing his family. He attained the supreme knowledge after 13 years. He then preached his ideas of non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, non-possession, and control over all kinds of passions, emotions and desires. Mahavira rejected the Vedas and strongly believed that man is responsible for his present and future. Mahavira committed Salekhana, which is fasting to death.

Teotihuacan is located in the northeast of Mexican city and is one of the oldest cities built the ancient people of 2nd century, even before Aztecs. This ancient religious city has many architectural marvels and one particular monument is the Pyramid of Sun which is estimated to be 2000 years old. This pyramid is steep in nature and no one could trace the original purpose of this pyramid. However, Aztecs used this place to sacrifice to their solar god. Teotihuacan also has a pyramid for moon. The religion of this place is similar to that of Mesoamerican culture.

Maps are drawings which helps us to know about places, their location, the way to reach etc. In simple words, they convey geographical information. Once, the only people aware of maps were those who had the necessity to use that. But now almost every knows about maps after the introduction of “MAP” a character in cartoons. The art of making maps is called cartography, which were advanced to ancient Greece. And the oldest maps are preserved in Babylonian clay tablets, belonging to the period of 2300 BC. Now the maps are available on internet and even on mobile phones.

Hindu mythology has plenty gods and goddesses. The most favorite god of all is lord Ganesha, who has the head of an elephant, four hands, and a potty belly. There are numerous stories which praise him. He is the god of knowledge, and considered to be the remover of obstacles. He is worshipped first in the beginning of any occasion to bring better success and to remove the obstacles. Mythology says that, it was lord Ganesha who wrote the great epic, “Mahabharata” as dictated by Veda Vyasa. His vehicle is the tiny mouse, which moves quickly and represents tremendous wisdom and presence of mind.

The girl with the dragon tattoo is a thriller novel, and there is no turning back of the book, if started once. This Swedish novel is translated to English by Reg keeland, and the translation is really outstanding. The story begins when Mikael Blomkvist, a financial journalist is offered to solve the mystery of a forty year old case. Mikael is paired with Lisbeth Salander, who is the real main character and solves the case. On the whole, this novel has been rated four stars.
